Lauren Metzger, LCSW
COUNSELING SERVICES
I provide individual therapy to adults (18 years and older), as well as family therapy for adults with eating disorders and their family members.
I specialize in providing care to people experiencing eating disorders, disordered eating, negative body image, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, as well as life transitions including pregnancy and postpartum.
How do I get started?
Please feel free to contact me to discuss your own unique circumstances. You can email, call or complete an online contact form. I am happy to provide a free initial consultation by phone to give us the opportunity to talk a little about what you are looking for and see if I may be a helpful match.
What will the first session be like?
Our first meeting is an intake session and will be scheduled for 60-75 minutes. During this meeting, I will ask about your personal and family history and what brings you to counseling. It is important that this first meeting is as comfortable as possible for you, so you are encouraged to share on your comfort level. This is also a good time for you to get a better sense of me and my counseling style.
What about follow-up sessions?
Typically, I meet with clients once weekly for a 55-60 minute session. Meeting weekly gives you just the right amount of time between sessions to feel like you've made some progress toward your goals while getting the support you need for change. Each week, we will check in about our last session and the week prior. Sometimes, there will be something that feels pressing to talk about and other times we will talk about something related to your goals.
